OrthoList: a compendium of C. elegans genes with human orthologs.
Functional Descriptions |
uggt-1
uggt-1 encodes one of two C. elegans homologs of UDP-Glc:glycoprotein glucosyltransferase (UGGT), an endoplasmic reticulum enzyme involved in quality control of glycoprotein folding; expression of uggt-1 in S. pombe cells lacking functional UGGT activity indicates that UGGT-1 displays UDP-Glc:glycoprotein glucosyltransferase activity; loss of uggt-1 activity via RNAi results in larval developmental delay and a shortened lifespan; uggt-1 is expressed throughout larval development, with peak levels seen at the L2/L3 stages, and uggt-1 expression is upregulated in an ire-1-dependent manner in response to endoplasmic reticulum stress; a uggt-1::gfp promoter fusion is expressed in the nervous system, including the amphid and phasmid neurons, the nerve ring, and the dorsal and ventral nerve cords.

"The developmental program of the animals halts at any larval stage and thus fails to reach adulthood. In C.elegans, this occurs anytime during L1-L4 stage." [WB:WBPaper00002958, WB:WBPerson2021]
larval lethal
"The animal dies at any time between hatching and onset to adulthood." [GO:0002119, WB:WBPerson712]
lethal
"Animals die prematurely at any stage of the life cycle." [WB:WBPaper00001109, WB:WBPerson2021]
maternal sterile
" Animals produce no or very few embryos as a result of experimental treatment. This is in contrast to sterility due to genetic perturbations (maternal effect sterility)." [WB:cab, WB:cgc5599, WB:cgc7141, WB:WBPerson557]
organism morphology variant
"Animals exhibit variations in the form, structure or composition of any part of their anatomy compared to control animals." [WB:cab, WB:WBPaper00004402, WB:WBPaper00004403, WB:WBPaper00004651, WB:WBPaper00005654, WB:WBPaper00006395]
postembryonic development variant
"Any variation in the progression of an animal over time, from hatching to adulthood, compared to control." [WB:WBPerson2021]
shortened life span
"The duration of viability in the adult phase of the life-cycle is less than that of control animals." [GO:0008340, WB:WBPerson712]
slow growth
"Any variation that causes a reduction in growth rate compared to control." [WB:cab, WB:WBPaper00004402, WB:WBPaper00004403, WB:WBPaper00004651, WB:WBPaper00004769, WB:WBPaper00005654, WB:WBPaper00006395, WB:WBPaper00024497, WB:WBPerson557]
sterile progeny
"Any variation that compromises the reproductive ability of the progeny of an animal." [WB:WBPerson2021, WB:WBPerson557]
transgene expression reduced
"Any decrease in the intensity of expression of a gene product produced by exogenous DNA that has been introduced into the organism compared to its expression in control animals." [WB:WBPerson557]
transgene expression variant
"Any variation in the characteristic expression of a gene product produced by exogenous DNA that has been introduced into the organism compared to control animals." [WB:WBPerson557]
tunicamycin hypersensitive
"Animals respond to tunicamycin at a lower concentration or a shorter exposure compared to control animals." [WB:WBPaper00030877, WB:WBPerson557]
Variant
"Animals exhibit variations compared to a given control." [WB:WBPerson557]
