An assay kit (MBP-oligomer ELISA, Microwell strip version) for the determination of MBP is commercially available from BioPorto Diagnostics A/S (Gentofte, Denmark). The kit contains strips of microwells precoated with mouse anti-human MBP monoclonal antibody, buffers, standards (5, 10, 20, and 40 ng purified MBP/mL), biotinylated anti-human MBP antibody, streptavidin-HRP, a substrate solution containing tetramethylbenzidine (TMBZ), and a stop solution. The amount of MBP, principally an oligomer, in human serum or plasma, or a MBP preparation purified from human serum or plasma can be determined with reference to the purified MBP in the kit according to the manufacturer's instructions. Optimum measurement range: 50 ng/mL to 2500 ng/mL in undiluted samples. Detection limit: 5 ng/mL (diluted sample).
